Today, we discussed the logistics behind IB Blackout. We planned to get the dance proposal finalized, in which the president and vice-president of Senior Council (Angela Cheung and Emma Keegan) will go to Ms. Johnson about it. Once it is approved, we plan on selling tickets as soon as possible. The dance is important because it establishes “clout,” or in other words putting ourselves out there at BSGE. As of now, we do not have any events as Senior Council beyond bake sales so this dance will help achieve that, particularly in the younger grades. We plan on making around $1.2K, which will cover the money put into prom. Any money leftover will be placed to whatever we would like – senior trip, senior dues, etc.
During this meeting, we also split up senior council into groups: Graduation, Events, and Prom. I joined the events group, which coordinates various activities Senior Council can do to make money. Having experience in the Flapjack Fundraiser in years prior to the softball team, I suggested we do this following the dance. We’ve made around $1K in this event, and sometimes even more if we are able to sell raffle tickets for t-shirts, pens, sweatshirts, and more as rewards. I found working in this aspect of senior council enjoyable as I am able to connect my community service experiences.
MEETINGS HELD ON MONDAYS 2:35PM – 3:30PM
